BELL CANADA POLISHES CALL ANSWER SERVICE

Bell Canada has enhanced its Call Answer Plus service. Customers of the service can now receive, answer and manage their messages regardless of whether they receive them on voice mail or e-mail through MessageLink and VisualManager. MessageLink combines the features of voice mail and e-mail. Customers of a MessageLink-enabled Internet service provider will be able to receive notification of new e-mails in their Call Answer voice mailbox. Customers will be able to view a summary of calls in the voice mailbox on their computer. If they have a multimedia PC equipped with a sound modem, they can listen and reply to their voice mail messages from the MessageLink Web site. VisualManager allows customers with Vista 350 phones to view, sort and prioritize their messages using message details such as caller number, data, time, length and level of urgency. The two additional services became available in Ottawa this week. They will be launched in a few other communities in December and rolled out to the rest of Ontario and Quebec in the new year. Bell plans to promote the two new services by incorporating them into Call Answer Plus advertising, which will begin when the new services have a greater distribution. Advertising for Bell is handled by Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto, while BBDO Canada of Toronto handles the media portion of the business.
