COSSETTE WINS CINEPLEX BUSINESS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Cineplex Odeon Corp. gave its account to Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto last week. The agency was chosen after a competition with an undisclosed number of agencies. Cossette won the business because of its movie exhibition business, its strategic leadership and its ability to bring all the communications disciplines together, a news release says. Until now, Cineplex handled its advertising in-house or hired agencies on a project basis. Over the next year, Cineplex plans to open new entertainment complexes called Cinetropolis. The theatres will be in Toronto and Langley, B.C., as well as in Ste-Foy and Beauport, both in Quebec. Montreal-based Popcorn Communications, which is owned by Cineplex, will continue to handle media planning and buying for motion picture studios and Cineplex Odeon in Quebec.
