ACA TO RELEASE RESULTS OF REMUNERATION STUDY

The Association of Canadian Advertisers will release the top-line results of its 1998 Advertising Agency Remuneration Survey on Oct. 27. The survey collates the responses to a questionnaire that addresses current remuneration practices and concerns of Canada's largest advertisers. Nearly 70% of respondents chose to report on fee-based remuneration systems rather than commission-based systems. The majority of respondents' remuneration for production services is no longer through commissions, but rather fees. In addition, 80% of respondents have a written agreement in place, but only 20% have the same agreement with all their agencies. The study also drew answers about specialized media services, the role and contribution of bonus and incentive payments. prospective changes to remuneration and client satisfaction. The study was done by Ernst & Young Management Consultants of Toronto.
