ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUP CALLS FOR PROTECTION LEGISLATION

The International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Sierra Club of Canada is trying to ensure that the federal government protects Canada's endangered species. The organizations launched a national TV PSA this week to let Canadians know that Canada does not have federal legislation for endangered species and to encourage them to call a toll-free number to get more information and see how they can help. The ad features some of Canada's endangered species: the grizzly bear, eastern cougar and a whooping crane. The ad juxtaposes the animals against a harsh urban landscape to show their vulnerability. It was created by Andersen Advertising of Toronto. Other firms involved in the project were Radke Films, DKP Production/Chameleon Film & Video and Rosnick Mackinnon, all of Toronto. Canadian actor Al Waxman did the voice-over in the ad.
