PATHFINDER STARS IN NISSAN TRAVEL SERIES
By Adnews Staff
Nissan Motor in the United States is trying to sell television stations a travelogue series that features the Nissan Pathfinder in a prominent product placement. It is also reserving ad spots on the show for the company's popular sport-utility vehicle. The half-hour show features glamorous female celebrities travelling in a Pathfinder as they seek adventure. The trip takes them to places such as Alaska, Canada's arctic and Mexico for activities such as a glacier float, polar bear safari and kayaking. Actress Shari Belafonte, models Cheryl Tiegs and Kim Alexis, and singer Carole King have been signed up for the series, which is patterned after the American Sportsman show that ran on the ABC network for 19 years, starting in 1965. Ted Steinberg has been hired to produce 13 shows. The co-owner of Los Angeles TV production company Bearcom produced a two-hour special for Nissan, called Get Out The Vote, that ran on ABC in 1988.
