AIR CANADA TO FLY KITES

Air Canada is flying the skies in more ways than one. The airline has signed on as title sponsor of the Toronto International Kitefest. The agreement is for a three-year period. The event will now be called the Air Canada International Kitefest. This year it will be held on Sept. 19 and 20. The airline is expected to give away commemorative kites to the first 1000 children at the event. This is the fourth year the Kitefest has been organized. It is expected to attract close to 30,000 visitors. The highlight this year will be the East Asian kites from the Philippines and Malaysia. Kite enthusiasts from China, Taiwan and across Canada will also hold a number of stunt kite demonstrations and competitions. The kitefest will also feature a children's kite painting contest, a children's kite making workshop, an open field for families to fly their kites, kite fighting competitions and cultural performances. The event is organized by the Mandarin Club of Toronto and the Toronto Kite Fliers Association.
