SYMANTEC OFFERS SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS NT SERVERS
By Adnews Staff
Symantec Corp. of Cupertino, California has introduced the latest version of its anti-virus software to the North American market. Called Norton AntiVirus 5.0 for Windows NT Server, the program combines anti-virus technology with fully automated administration capabilities. Symantec says this simplifies the management of virus detection and prevents virus infections from moving to workstations. In addition, the software features a heuristic scanner, which enables users to encrypt potentially infected files, e-mail them to Symantec's AntiVirus Research Centre for analysis and receive a fix within 48 hours. A Quarantine option allows users on client workstations to send suspicious or infected files onto an isolated area of the server. In Canada, Norton AntiVirus 5.0 for Windows NT Server will be promoted using PR done by The Communications Group of Toronto.
