GRAND & TOY BUYS HALIFAX OFFICE FURNITURE COMPANY
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Grand & Toy has expanded its technology division. The company has bought Wilson Business World of Halifax, an office furniture contract dealer and computer supplies company. "This acquisition will provide Grand & Toy commercial customers throughout the Atlantic provinces with specialized office design and furniture, and an extensive selection of computer supplies," managing director Peter Vanexan says in a release. In addition, it will give customers cost savings and service advantages by consolidating suppliers. Advertising for Grand & Toy is handled by Doner Canada of Toronto. This is the company's sixth purchase since 1996. In October of that year, Grand & Toy bought The Stationery Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick, a commercial and retail office products distributor. In November, the office supplies company bought Brisson Business Products of North Bay, Ont., as well as Parallele Business Products of Quebec. Grand & Toy bought Carlyle Computer Products of Winnipeg in May 1997 and launched its Custom Business Interiors division in that year. Both Custom Business Interiors and Wilson Business World are part of the Grand & Toy technology business.
