FIRST NATIONS EXPANDS INTO QUEBEC

The First Nations Bank of Canada opened a second branch earlier this summer. Located in Chisasibi, Que., the full-service branch is about 1,000 square feet in size, is wheelchair accessible and offers a sit down area for investment counseling. Customers at the First Nations Bank can also bank at any Toronto Dominion branch in Canada and are able to use all TD electronic banking channels including PC banking, Web banking, telephone banking and automated teller machines. The branch will be promoted using local print and radio ads created in-house. The First Nations Bank opened its first branch and head office in Saskatoon last September. Its a co-operative effort between The Toronto Dominion Bank, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Inc. and the Saskatchewan Indian Equity Foundation Inc. Eventually, the bank wants to have branches across the country and hopes to be entirely native-owned in 10 years.
