MIJO EXPANDS

Toronto-based Mijo Corp. has had a busy summer adding a division and expanding another. The company was already made up of Mijo Print Technologies, Comprehensive Distributors and Rocket Digital Post and Sound. The new unit, which was formed in June, is called Undercover Film & Electronic Media Storage. It offers a computerized storage facility for video and audio elements for commercials, films and documentaries. In the future, the division will focus on establishing a computer-based storage/archiving/retrieval system. Under this plan, elements can be converted from various formats and transferred to a digital-based platform. In addition, clients will be able to elect online storage, so they can access their stored elements remotely.
The unit that was expanded this month is Rocket Digital Post and Sound. Its enlarged facilities now include a second digital online editing suite that allows room for clients and their guests. All suites have been re-wired to allow full connectivity between the AVID editing suites and the Protool recording studio. In addition, there is a client lounge/kitchen area. Rocket Digital provides video and audio post production services to corporate and agency clients. Its services include digital on line video editing, digital audio recording and mixing, QuickTime video for multimedia and Web, video stills and graphics.
Mijo Print Technologies offers a variety of print related functions geared mainly to the feature film industry. It handles display ads for movies in daily and weekly newspapers. Services integrating market specific information such as theatre locations, reviews, copy, provincial classifications and show times. Mijo Print's client list includes Alliance Releasing, MGM, Polygram Motion Pictures, Warner Brothers, Walt Disney, Touchstone, Paramount Films and DreamWorks, as well as agency and corporate clients. Other services include graphic design, pre-press production, output services/color proofing, high resolution scanning, designing large format outdoor ads such as billboards, bus shelters, subway cards, signs and banners, electronic reception and delivery of files.
Comprehensive Distributors offers duplication and delivery services, as well as broadcast approvals, and bilingual closed-captioning. Duplication services include digital television standards conversion, assembly of agency reels, re-slating, preparation of loops, creation of combos, audio transfers and restripes. Delivery services include fibre optic, digital and satellite services. Customized shipping is also available and their are on-staff drivers for deliveries and pick-ups. Comprehensive also offers bilingual scripting services and broadcast approval submissions. Once a TV commercial is dubbed, the division will complete the approval forms and submit them to the appropriate boards. Bilingual captioning services are available for a variety of media including TV commercials, programming, feature films, music videos, documentaries, corporate videos and infomercials.
