GM STILL SET TO LAUNCH NEW TRUCKS IN THE FALL

General Motors of Canada says its new trucks will still be launched in the fall, even though U.S. strikes shut down Canadian truck operations last week. Although the auto maker is keeping a tight lip on a launch date for the new trucks, which will be marketed under the Silverado and Sierra names, it has said the introduction of the trucks will be on schedule. New vehicle launches are usually done in September and October. Trucks account for 45% of GM's profit. The company says the new vehicles will be sturdier than their predecessors, the CK series, and will have more power and interior room. Canadian advertising for GM is done by MacLaren McCann of Toronto.
