JUSTICE DEPARTMENT DENIES FBI LOOKING AT CALVIN KLEIN
By Adnews Staff
United Press International says U.S. justice department officials are denying reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating Calvin Klein's latest advertising campaign, aborted after critics complained it bordered on child pornography. However, the justice department does say its own investigators are gathering facts, says the UPI report. A justice department letter to the Washington Post denied a claim by a columnist in that newspaper that the FBI is involved. Columnist Richard Cohen responded that he got his information from the justice department. Last week the Wall Street Journal quoted a justice department spokesman as saying the FBI was gathering information about the models in the campaign.
