BROADCASTING EXPO
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters and the Western Association of Broadcast Engineers will host its Broadcasting '98 & National Media Expo in Vancouver from Nov. 1 to 3. The conference will focus on such issues as higher Canadian music levels on radio, multiple license ownership and the shortage of channel space for licensed Canadian specialties. Sessions and workshops will explore digital and new media opportunities, the future of TV advertising, radio's relationship with the music industry and social issues such as violence and alcohol abuse. The keynote speaker at the event will be consultant Dr. Lance Secretan. He is also a former professor and was honorary chairman of the 1997 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Other speakers will include Heritage Minister Sheila Copps and Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications chair Francoise Bertrand.
