BATA OPENS NEW SPORTWEAR STORE
By Adnews Staff
The Bata Shoe Organization of Toronto opened a new concept sporting apparel store late last month under its Athletes World banner. Called Out There by Athletes World, the outlet is 7,000 square feet in size and sells running, hiking, walking, in-line skating, golf and water sports apparel. Departments in the store are divided by sport, with each being readily identifiable from the other. The watersports section features a waterfall behind glass. In addition, Out There by Athletes World features interactive equipment. The Elements Condition Booth simulates extreme weather conditions through the use of visuals and sound, enabling customers to try out their outerwear garments before deciding on a purchase. An elevated Trail Treadmill simulates a run on various inclines, so customers can try out their new running shoes before buying them. The new store will be promoted using PR done by Strategic Objectives of Toronto. Bata is also looking at doing some direct marketing. It will be done by the Saffer Group of Toronto. Bata plans to have Out There outlets across Canada, and is hoping to have additional stores by the end of the year.
