OCTAGON MERGES ADVANTAGE AND API

International sports marketing and entertainment giant Octagon has announced plans to merge two of its companies. In May 1997, Octagon bought Advantage International and 60 per cent of API. It has now acquired the remaining 40 per cent of API to complete the merger. The new company will be led up by chairman and founder of Advantage, Lee Fentress. Alan Pascoe, former chairman of API has decided to step aside and pursue other ventures. Frank Lowe of Octagon suggested that Fentress will be off to pursue his interest in British Athletics. Both companies have established themselves in their respective markets, Valierie Collin of Octagon said. There are no immediate planes to consolidate the names. "Right now we're working on consolidating the offices and the people." Once merged, Octagon will have over 500 staff in 21 cities spanning all five continents.
