THE UK MAIL IS ON IT'S WAY TO CANADA
By Adnews Staff
Richard Truman, CEO of Campaign House has bought the rights to distribute and market the UK Mail in Canada. It will be the third British paper to hit the Canadian market, and will target British Expedites and Anglophile Canadians. The UK Mail is known for it's coverage of European sports, it boasts the largest sports section of any weekly British tabloid, dedicating over one third of it's content to sports. The UK Mail is currently published in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Canada is the first country in the Americas to have it. The Mail came to Canada in an interesting way; five years ago, Campaign House handled the advertising for another British paper The Express. The paper blossomed world-wide - Campaign House was handling all the advertising for it around the world out of Toronto. Three years later, the Associated Newspapers, publishers of Britain's Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday asked Campaign house to do their advertising. Campaign House agreed only if they could buy 50 per cent of the distribution and marketing rights to Canada. "Advertising is a very competitive business here in Toronto," Richard Truman said. "We have to look at other ventures in order to survive." A media campaign which includes, radio, television and print will begin shortly, targeting the more than 270,000 British Canadians living in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe. The paper is transmitted via ISDN line to a printer in Welland Ontario and is distributed on Sunday for sale Monday morning.
