TVB DISHES OUT BESSIES AWARDS

Leo Burnett Co. and BBDO Canada, both of Toronto, walked away big winners at the Television Bureau of Canada 1998 Bessies Awards. Leo Burnett won two Gold Spot awards in the singles category and one Gold Spot award in the campaign category for work it created for Kellogg Canada. BBDO won two Gold Spot single awards and one Gold Spot campaign award for work it did for the Campbell's Soup Co. Palmer Jarvis DDB walked away with one Gold Spot singles award and one Gold Spot campaign award for work it created for Playland. Other Gold Spot winners were: Young & Rubicam, AGF Management Ltd.; The Holmes Partnership, Delmax Pharmaceuticals; Ammirati & Puris/Lintas, Compaq Canada; API Aviator Pictures, Fongs; Roche Macaulay & Partners Advertising, CFRB 1010 Standard Broadcasting Inc. The Fritz Spiess Award was presented to Richard Unruh of Third Floor Editing, while the Kari Award for best actor in a Canadian commercial was given to Chase Randolph. He won the award for his performance in a commercial for AGF Management Inc. The Bob Mann Post Production Award went to Jeff White of Soundfield and the Walter Bell Memorial Award was given to Mary-Jo Dionne of Humber College. The Bessies recognize the best in Canadian TV advertising.
