STARBUCKS TO SPONSOR LILITH FAIR
By Adnews Staff
Starbucks Coffee Company announced this week that it will be sponsoring the Lilith Fair 1998 summer concert tour. The specialty coffee retailer plans to operate a traveling cafe on each concert stop and will sell Lilith Fair merchandise in Starbucks outlets. The merchandise will include a Starbucks/Lilith Fair CD featuring emerging and leading female artists, as well as a selection of tumblers, T-shirts and caps bearing the Starbucks and Lilith Fair designs. Starbucks will donate 10% of the sales of the merchandise to the YWCA in Canada. In addition, artists from Lilith Fair will make appearances at various Starbucks cafes, and the company's new Web site being launched next month will feature a schedule of performances by Lilith Fair artists in Starbucks stores, as well as lists of local charity recipients, Lilith merchandise and behind-the-scenes journal entries from Starbucks Baristas who will travel with the Lilith tour. Starbucks will support its sponsorship of Lilith Fair with radio co-promotions in Toronto and Ottawa. The ads will be created by Echo Advertising of Toronto. PR will be done by the GCI Group of Toronto.
