TELEGLOBE GOES RETAIL
By Adnews Staff
Montreal-based Teleglobe Canada will move into the retail market this summer. The company launched a new division this week that will sell its telecommunications service directly to consumers. Until now, Teleglobe sold its services to other telecommunications companies, who, in turn, sold the services to consumers. The new division will be called Teleglobe Communication Services and will operate two units: consumer and business-to-business. It will offer such services as long-distance calling, fax services, data and imaging transfers, as well as videoconferencing. Teleglobe will promote the new division and its services using direct mail and billboards done by Cossette Communication-Marketing of Montreal. PR will be done by Optimum Public Relations of Toronto. The company plans to sell the services through a direct sales force.
