BELL TO FORM HIGH SPEED INTERNET COMPANY
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Bell Canada will launch a new national company this fall that will provide high speed data and Internet services to business customers over a national broadband network. The yet-to-be-named company will provide a vehicle for a suite of network-based applications including services such as electronic commerce and advanced Web hosting. The services will be developed by Bell Emergis, Bell's network-based applications development division. Until now, the services have been developed and provided on a regional basis over a series of inter-linked networks across the country. Bell spokesperson Don Hogarth told Adnews yesterday that Bell hasn't decided yet whether it will have one of its current agencies develop ads for the new company, or if Bell will hire another one. Advertising for Bell is done by BBDO Canada and Leo Burnett Co., both of Toronto.
