OSPCA COMBATS VIOLENCE

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is telling the public that there is often a link between animal abuse and family violence. The organization launched a TV and radio campaign this week to tell people that more and more investigations into animal cruelty have shown that children are also being neglected and abused. The campaign uses the tagline "Stop the Abuse, Don't Let the Innocent Suffer!" It tells the public that all instances of animal cruelty or neglect should be reported. The TV ad tells the story of an injured dog named Casey, who along with his young owner, Matt, share more than friendship, as their wounds indicate. The ads were created in-house with the help of Flying Colors of Claremont, Ont. In addition, OSPCA has teamed up with various organizations such as women's shelters, law enforcement officials and public school educators to form a violence prevention coalition that will identify specific issues and take steps to prevent violence at all levels of society.
