PILOT INSURANCE HIRES A NAVIGATOR

Toronto-based Pilot Insurance has made it official. The company handed its account last month to Campbell & Partners Communications. The Toronto agency was hired without a review after handling projects for Pilot since late last year, doing several design projects and developing ads for a co-op project with brokers. "We were very impressed with their ability to understand our business and make key contributions to our marketing plans for 1998 in a very short period of time," Pilot assistance vice-president Katie Walmsley says in a release. Until now, Pilot did very little advertising, and when it did, the ads were created in-house. The company decided to hire an agency because of increased competition and to help brokers retain and increase their customer base, Walmsley says. Pilot has been operating in Ontario for over 70 years selling property and casualty insurance. It has 20 regional offices in Ontario and nearly 300 independent brokers.
