HEALTH PROGRAM LOOKING FOR SPONSORS

The Hardy Heart Group of Oakville, Ont. plans to bring its nutrition education and awareness program into Ontario elementary schools in September and is looking for corporate sponsors for the program. The program is geared to children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3, teaching them about healthful eating, exercise and positive lifestyles. It will contain several components including workbooks, manuals, a computer game and a Web site. The program's main character is Hardy Heart, with his cohorts: Lazy Heart, Smoker Heart, Fit Fat Cell, Bulgy Fat Cell, Lethal Lipid, Tidy Lipid, Healthy Blood Pressure, Risky Blood Pressure and Thundering Triglyceride. Sponsors will be able to use the characters on their packaging and in their advertising and promotions. The characters will also be available for special events. Sponsorships are being handled by Mahoney International of Mississauga, Ont. The program was developed in the U.S. in the 1970s by Dr. Tom Gilliam.
