EDMONTON JOURNAL MOVES INTO TV

The Edmonton Journal launched a TV campaign last week in an effort to boost readership and ad sales. The ads are geared to occasional readers aged 18 to 30. In one spot, two women speculate about what section of The Edmonton Journal a man is reading. After reflecting on his demeanor, they guess he's reading the business section, classified ads or international news. In fact, he is reading the comics. The tagline for the ad says: "You learn something new everyday." The TV ads are supported by a series of in-paper ads. The campaign was created by Highwood Communications of Calgary. They are running on CFRN, ITV, A Channel and CBC.
