NEW DEVICE PREVENTS COMPUTER THEFT
By Adnews Staff
bluVenom Anti-Theft Devices Inc. of Burnaby, B.C. will launch its computer anti-theft device to the North American market in March. The device is a portable alarm that locks directly into a floppy drive or parallel port. When a computer armed with the unit is disturbed it will emit a hissing noise. This will be followed a few seconds later by a 120 decibel alarm if the jostling continues. The device will be promoted using print ads in computer papers, as well as Internet ads and the company's Web site. Internet advertising will be handled by an ad agency consultant. BluVenom said it was too early to name the consultant because they are still in negotiations. The print ads will be created in-house.
