By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Polaroid Inc. will introduce an enhanced version of its PhotoDirect software to the North American market next month. The program allows users to integrate photos into e-mail messages. The new version is called PhotoDirect 2.0, and it is compatible with more e-mail programs: Eudora, Lotus Notes, CCMail, Microsoft Exchange and possibly Netscape. The first version, PhotoDirect 1.0, is compatible only with CC Mail and Microsoft Exchange. PhotoDirect 2.0 also has a browser so users can go to the directory on their hard drive to view thumbnail images of photos. In Canada, the program will be promoted using national newspaper and magazine ads created by BBDO Canada of Toronto. PR is being done by Langdon Starr Ketchum of Toronto. PhotoDirect 2.0 will be sold on its own, as well as in a kit containing a Polaroid Business Edition instant camera, instant film and a camera bag.
