ROYAL BANK ASSISTS STORM VICTIMS
By Adnews Staff
The Royal Bank of Canada launched a fundraising campaign last week to assist the ice storm victims in Eastern Canada, Quebec and New Brunswick. Eastern Canada and Quebec were hit last week with an ice storm that cut power, heat, water and telephone lines to thousands of residents. Many people fled to shelters, while many tried to tough it out in their homes. Cities were virtually shut down until last week when businesses were allowed to re-open and cities began to creep back to life. The campaign encourages people to contribute in-person at any Royal Bank or Royal Trust branch. Visa cardholders can donate by calling a 1-800 number. Public service announcements are being aired on the Global Television Network. Maclean's magazine is running an ad as well. The ads were created in-house by each of the media outlets.
