MEDIACOM EXPANDS TRANSIT SHELTER BUSINESS

Toronto-based Mediacom has expanded its transit shelter portfolio. The company has bought the transit shelter business of Gallop & Gallop Outdoor Advertising of Toronto. The agreement includes 1,532 transit shelter faces in Ottawa, Hull, Edmonton and Kelowna, B.C. In addition, Mediacom has bought Mark Five Outdoor Advertising of Calgary. This purchase includes 587 transit shelter advertising faces, 46 street level ads and 461 facia signs, which are ads that sit on top of transit shelters that do not carry backlit boards. The moves bring Mediacom's total transit shelter business to 9,000 advertising faces. Mediacom also sells advertising on billboards, superboards, backlights, mediacolumns, wall murals and airport displays. In total, it sells advertising on 14,000 advertising faces. Mediacom is owned by Outdoor Systems Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona.
