AMC PLANS ANOTHER CANADIAN LOCATION

AMC Theatres of Kansas City, Missouri plans to open a 5,000-seat theatre complex in Kanata, Ont. next year. The theatre will feature 24 screens and stadium-style seating for an unobstructed view Row spacing is six inches more than the industry standard. In addition, the theatre will have loveseats, which will be high backed, double-wide seats with retractable armrests so that couples can cozy up during a movie. Guest services will include Teleticket, which will allow customers to phone ahead to reserve seating with a credit card or debit card; the Silence is Golden program, which encourages patrons to be considerate of those around them and the MovieWatcher program, which rewards frequent moviegoers. This is the fifth Canadian location AMC has announced. The company also plans to build theatres in Toronto, Scarborough and Vaughan, all in Ontario, as well as in Montreal. Canadian advertising for AMC is done by Pinewood Communications of Toronto. The company has 226 theatres in 22 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Japan and Portugal.
