CNA CHOOSES FIRST AGENCY
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Newspaper Association has chosen its first agency. The organization recently hired Ranscombe & Co. of Toronto after a competition with two other agencies. Originally, CNA met with 12 agencies before paring down the list. Ranscombe was chosen because "they demonstrated a great deal of insight into our business," marketing vice-president Gary Masters told Adnews this week. CNA decided to hire an agency and begin advertising because "we saw it as an opportunity for the industry to put forward a united message." A newspaper campaign will be launched in the spring. A decision on using other media has not been made yet. CNA was formed a year ago with the merger of the Newspaper Marketing Bureau and the Canadian Daily Newspaper Association. The CNA is a media association representing 101 Canadian daily newspapers in the areas of marketing, public policy and member services.
