COCA-COLA GETS INTO CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

U.S.-based Coca Cola Co. launched its holiday packaging and TV campaign late last month to the North American market. This year, 12-can packs, 24-can packs and two-litre bottles of Coca-Cola Classic feature a painting of Santa Clause enjoying a Coca-Cola as his bag of toys rests on a staircase. The TV ad was filmed in Cloverdale, B.C. It features an 11-year-old boy who rings the town's bell tower to let people know the trucks delivering Coca-Cola are on their way, and conveys the excitement of the townspeople as they gather to catch a glimpse of the caravan. The ad was created by W.B. Doner of Southfield, Michigan. In Canada, Optimedia handled the media buy. Each two-ton 18-wheel truck is lighted by 30,000 bulbs and features Santa's smiling face. The caravan will tour towns in Ontario and Quebec from Dec. 1 to Dec. 22.
