NEC OFFERS HANDHELD PC

U.S.-based NEC Corp. will introduce a new handheld PC to the North American market next month. Called the MobilePro 700, the machine weighs under 1.5 pounds and features a large keyboard. Other highlights include a 7.3-inch diagonal, backlit, touch-screen display, voice recording capabilities, integrated 33.6 Kbps modem and up to 25 hours of battery life. Software included in the package is Microsoft Pocket Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer. NEC officials in Canada were unavailable to comment on advertising plans for the mini-computer. Advertising for NEC in Canada is done by The Cohen Group of Toronto.
