TELESAT LOOKING FOR A NAME

Telesat Canada of Ottawa needs to name its new communications satellite. The company launched a national contest this week to name Canada's first direct broadcast satellite. The contest runs from Nov. 9 to Feb. 13. The winning participant will receive a five-day trip for two to San Francisco including $1,000 spending money, an ExpressVu direct-to-home satellite television system, a digital VCR from EDD Inc. a Xerox Document HomeCentre, which is a combination color printer, copier and scanner and Telesat's DirecPC Turbo-Internet system. The winning contest will have their name on the satellite. Students can win a $20,000 bursary for their school. The contest is being promoted using Web site advertising on partner sites and PR done by Environics Communications of Toronto. The partners in the program are Xerox Canada, SchoolNet, ExpressVu and WIC Western International Communications.
