U.S. MENSWEAR COMPANY USES CANADIAN AGENCY

New York-based Wilke-Rodriguez has looked north for an agency to handle its worldwide advertising. The men's designer sportswear company handed its global account to The Brainstorm Group of Toronto after a competition with three other New York agencies. "We were very impressed with the fresh thinking and creative approach of this talented Canadian group. Their brand building experience in retail and with major designers is unique and will help us as we expand dramatically through new licensing arrangements and additional retail stores," Wilke-Rodriguez creative director and CEO Eddie Rodriguez says in a release. The incumbent on the business is Laspata DeCaro of New York. Wilke-Rodriguez met Brainstorm when the company was in talks with Tip Top Tailors to be Wilke's exclusive Canadian distributor. Wilke had seen work Brainstorm did for Tip Top and invited the agency to pitch the business, agency CEO Ron Telpner told Adnews yesterday. Brainstorm will launch a worldwide campaign for Wilke-Rodriguez next spring.
