IBM INTRODUCES TWO PORTABLE CD-ROM DRIVES

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. has released two new portable CD-ROM drives to the North American market. The 20X/8X portable drive sports a slim design which is ideal for mobile users. The 20X/8X portable stereo CD-ROM drive features built-in 16-bit stereo audio with an FM music synthesizer and a pair of detachable speakers. Each drive weighs under one pound, or just over a pound with stereo speakers attached. Both drives support DOS 6.2, OS/2 Warp, Window 3.1 and Windows 95. To promote the products in Canada, they will be incorporated into advertising for other IBM products such as client systems and ThinkPad notebook computers.
