SEARS TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHILDREN'S CHARITIES

Toronto-based Sears Canada is gearing up for Christmas with its national holiday season fundraising campaign through three programs: Sears RoundUp Days, the Sears Christmas Star Pin and the Yeti. Sears RoundUp days ran on Oct. 24 and 25 in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and on Oct. 25 and 26 in the rest of Canada. Sears customers were asked to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar to be donated to a children's charity. For every customer that does, Sears will match the amount. The program was supported with in-store materials. The Sears Christmas Star Pin is a gold pin selling for $5. For every pin sold, $2 will be donated to children's charities. The pin is being promoted in-store and in Sears Christmas flyers being launched in mid-November. The Yeti is sold through Sears' 110 outlets across Canada and through the retailer's catalogue. The Yeti line consists of a Papa Yeti, a baby Yeti and the new Mama Yeti. A portion of the money raised through the sale of the stuffed animals will be donated to children's charities. The Yeti line will be promoted in retail flyers and in Sears Christmas catalogue. Print advertising for Sears is done in-house. All Sears associate stores are involved in the fundraising campaign. Each store selects which local children's charity they want to donate to.
