IBM GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE TO GO FOR THE GOLD

U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. is getting another shot at the Olympics. The computer maker will supply heavily modified computer systems for the Sydney 2000 Olympic games. At the 1996 Atlanta games, IBM supplied the computer systems as well, but results were delivered up to 12 hours late and background statistics were flawed. The new contract gives IBM greater responsibility which will include covering the results system, data processing, athlete biographies and support services.
