COREL GOES TO THE MOVIES

Ottawa-based Corel Corp. introduced the All-Movie Guide CD-ROM to the worldwide market this week. Users can browse movies by category, cross-reference information, view clips of interviews with actors or purchase movies on-line. The guide will search for the movies meeting criteria set by the computer user and give the usual information found in printed movie guides. Other information includes dates of actors' birthdays, and which other personalities were born on those days. The glossary provides definitions of movie terms such as "B picture", "abstract film" and "academy mask". The program allows a person to search for a movie or video using key words. "Plot Finder" lets users search for plot types alphabetically. "Country Browser" lists movies by nation. "Games" generates crossword puzzles and trivia games based on the types of movies specified by the user. Print advertising created in-house began late last month.
