FAX DEVICE PROMISES PRIVACY

Certifax of Mississauga, Ont. has developed a device that maintains a private fax network. Called the Certifax 3000 series fax encryptor, the unit was recently launched in North America. It connects to a fax machine to secure sensitive facsimile communications from inadvertent or intentional disclosure. The unit authenticates the sender and recipient, then encrypts the data for secure, real-time fax trasmission. The receiving module stores the data until the intened recipient retrieves it by using a mailbox feature that ensures only the intended recipient will retrieve it. The device can be adapted to the organization's security policies and changing network parameters. It is targeted to the government, law enforcement, and healthcare industries. In Canada, the unit will be promoted using trade ads created by Scott Thornley & Co. of Toronto.
