CAB TO INDUCT ANNE MURRAY INTO HALL OF FAME

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters will make singer Anne Murray the first member of a new category in the Broadcast Hall of Fame honoring Canadian music stars at the Broadcast '97 conference to be held later this month. "This space is reserved for the great Canadian performers who have contributed so much to our music, our culture and radio and, in turn, have had their careers boosted by radio," said CAB president Michael McCabe. "We're honored to induct Anne Murry as the first member." Murray will also perform at the 1997 CAB Gold Ribbon Awards Gala on October 21. Others to be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the conference include Marge Anthony, Willard Bishop, Robert Bonneau, William Byles, Johnny Esaw, Robert Robinson, J. Allan Slaight and Donald Smith. Broadcasting '97 is expected to draw about 2000 broadcast industry boffins, including CEOs, engineers, news specialists and media representatives. The CAB represents the majority of this country's private broadcasters, including radio and television stations and networks, as well as specialty television services.
