PURINA LOOKING FOR MORE DOG ENTRIES
By Adnews Staff
Ralston Purina Canada is challenging all Canadian dog owners to top the cat entries in its 1995 Search for the Great Canadian Pets contest. The pet food company launched the competition in March, and so far has received 25% more entries from cat owners than dog owners. For the contest, entrants write a 250-word essay on the topic, Why I love my pet, and submit it with a color photograph of the favored pooch or feline. The grand prizes are $10,000 in cash each for the winning cat and dog. The prize animals' photos will appear on packages of Purina Cat Chow and Purina Dog Chow. In addition, prizes of $1,000 each will be given to each cat and dog regional winner, in 10 regions. Toronto-based Lowe/SMS handled advertising for the contest, and Accumark of Toronto did point-of-purchase materials.
