CANON LAUNCHES CAMCORDER WITH 35MM FEATURES
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Canon Inc. recently introduced a new digital camcorder to the North American market that the company says has design and performance features previously limited to 35mm SLR cameras. Called the Optura, the camcorder has a Progressive Scan Movie mode which acts as a digital motor drive, recording still images of fast-moving subjects at a rate of 30-frames-per-second. Canon says it is three times faster than the motor drive in a professional 35mm camera. The Optura also features 12-bit or 16-bit stereo sound, digital faders and a self-timer. In Canada, Canon will launch a national print campaign in November focusing on it entire line of camcorders. It will be created by Lackey Communications of Mississauga, Ont.
