WEIGHT WATCHERS PULLS FERGIE ADS
By Adnews Staff
The Weight Watchers franchise in Southern Ontario and Atlantic Canada has pulled its TV ads featuring Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York because of the death of her former sister-in law Princess Diana. The ads were launched on Sept. 1. The company wanted to pull the ads earlier, but was prevented from doing so because of the long weekend. Print and direct mail are also being used. These ads will be postponed as well if they haven't already been printed or mailed out. The campaign will be relaunched later this month. In the U.S., Weight Watchers pulled the ads as well. The North American campaign was created by Lowe & Partners/SMS of New York. Malis, Goldstrom, Hopson of Baltimore did the North American media buy.
