ROGERS CANTEL LAUNCHES TWO DIGITAL PACKAGES

Toronto-based Rogers Cantel began offering two digital PCS packages this week for the consumer and commercial markets. The plans are called the Amigo Digital and the Cantel AT&T Digital PCS Zone Based Pricing. The Amigo Digital package is geared to consumers and features a digital PCS phone at no extra charge when consumers sign up for a three-year term, 500 off-peak minutes free each month and first incoming minute free. In addition, the package includes caller ID, visual call waiting and exact pricing, which charges all local calls on a per-second basis after the first minute. A Home & Away service will be available in January. It will provide 50 cent local minutes anywhere in the U.S. The Cantel AT&T Digital PCS Zone Based Pricing package is an all-in-one package designed for business and other users who make more than 50% of their wireless calls from within a designated city area. This suite of services offers first incoming minute free, caller ID, visual call waiting, exact pricing and Home & Away. It also includes 400 minutes of free in-zone calling. National print advertising for the packages began this week. TV ads will begin later this month. The English-language campaign was created by Gee, Jeffery & Partners Advertising of Toronto. Groupaction of Montreal did the Quebec campaign.
