ONTV HEADS NORTH

Ontv of Hamilton, Ont. will hit the airwaves in Northern Ontario next month, travelling to the Muskoka, North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins markets. The station is promoting its arrival using radio advertising created by freelancers, while media planning was done by VPM Marketing & Media Consulting of Oakville, Ont. The ads began last week. Radio and possibly print advertising will promote the station's shows when it begins broadcasting in these areas. To help "sign on" the station in Nothern Ontario, Ontv will broadcast its News at Noon, First Edition and The Evening News programs live, on location. In addtion to delivering the news of the day, the shows will also profile the individual areas, showcasing their personalities, cultures, histories and achievements. Ontv, formerly known as CHCH-TV, entered the Ottawa market last February and changed its name. Ontv is owned by WIC Western International Communications of Vancouver.
