INTERAC IS FAVORITE AMONG WOMEN

Canadian women, especially young women aged 18 to 24, are leading the way in adopting the Interac Direct Payment system, according to a study by The Strategic Counsel. Twenty-six per cent of women say IDP is their most preferred method of payment, compared to 18% of men, who show a preference for cash and credit. Seventy-four per cent of women have tried IDP, compared to 66% of men. IDP has been very popular since it became available nationally in 1994, with some of this growth being attributed to women. At that time, fifty-four per cent of women were cardholders. Women also use IDP more often than men with 49% using the system either frequently or very frequently, compared to 39% of men.
