MICROSOFT HANDS OUT FIRST GALILEO

Hartco Enterprises president and CEO Harry Hart was presented with the Microsoft Canada Galileo Lifetime Achievement Award last week. The award was given to Hart "in honor of his demonstrated ability to continually respond to the changing needs of his customers and the computer industry," a Microsoft release says. Hart founded Hart Department Stores 35 years ago, growing to 65 stores. The company's computer division was founded in 1976 and now has more than 150 locations operating under such banners as MicroAge, CompuCentre and Compusmart. This was the first annual Galileo award presentation. Beginning next year, the Galileo Awards will "celebrate the dedication of retailers who are addressing the needs of businesses of all sizes." Retailers will be nominated by customers and judges will be chosen from a variety of disciplines and markets.
