By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. has bought LinkAge Software, a privately-held Toronto company that makes software to connect to e-mail systems. The software will be incorporated into Microsoft's Exchange product line and sold worldwide through the company's sales partners. Prior to the deal, advertising for LinkAge was done by Sterling Communications of San Jose, California. In Canada, advertising for Microsoft is handled by The Communique Group, while Media Buying Services handles media buying and Hill & Knowlton does PR. All agencies are based in Toronto. LinkAge was mainly owned by founder and president Robert Jull and employees while VenGrowth Investment Fund held a 10% stake and the Bank of Montreal had 15%.
