POWER PLUS TO EXPAND

Power Plus Corp. of Markham, Ont plans to expand its Powerful Stuff stores into Calgary and Vancouver by the end of the year. In addition, it plans to add more outlets in Ontario and has planned U.S. locations in Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Oregon, Washington, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. In all, Power Plus plans to have 125 stores by the end of the year and another 290 additional stores in North America in each of 1998, 1999 and the year 2000. In Canada, Power Plus uses newspaper and radio ads to promote the stores, but it will begin using other media, such as TV, when it has more outlets. Advertising is created in-house with the help of freelancers. Powerful Stuff stores sell wireless communications products such as pagers, cellular phones and PCS phones, as well as fashion hand-held electronic products.
