CANON LAUNCHES NEW CAMCORDERS AND DIGITAL CAMERA

U.S.-based Canon Inc. recently introduced four new camcorders and a pocket-sized digital camera to the North American market. The four camcorders are the ES2500, the ES970, the ES170 and the ES270. The ES2500 features a 22X optical zoom lens, optical image stablization for shake-free recording and Canon's Advance FlexiZone for focusing and exposure anywhere within the viewfinder frame. The ES2500 also incorporates a built-in editing function that lets users transform raw footage into a concise video. The ES 970 is an 8mm camcorder with a 22X optical zoom lens and the features of the ES2500. The ES170 and ES270 are geared to novice video makers. The models include a 16X optical zoom lens, FlexiZone and digital special effects. The digital camera is called the PowerShot 350. It features an optical resolution of 640X480 pixels, built-in flash, red-eye reduction, a liquid-crystal-display screen and a two megabyte removable Type II memory card which can store up to 47 pictures. In Canada, the new products are being promoted using point-of-purchase materials created by Lackey Communications of Toronto.
